Sam Sam

After going past this relatively new addition to Swanston Street, we thought it was time to give it a try. Also, any restaurant with "fried chicken" written on it's signs definitely grabs my attention.

When we arrived, the tables towards the back of the restaurant had apparently all been occupied, so we were invited to sit at one of the side tables. They were... different I guess. The seat was positioned so that we were sideways to the table. Furthermore, the table was tiny so we could barely fit all our food on it.

Of course, we had to try the fried chicken as that was what we were initially drawn into the restaurant for.

SAM SAM Chicken Wings - Original 12 Pieces ($15)
We were quite disappointed with the fried chicken, as we expected it to be decent considering the advertising. Instead, it was dry and the batter wasn't anything spectacular. It was also quite bland and we didn't end up finishing all twelve pieces.

Sweet Soy Chicken Bulgogi ($12)
I also ordered the sweet soy chicken bulgogi, which unexpectedly came served on a sizzling hot plate. However, this dish was no better than the fried chicken. The chicken was again dry, and also had a strange, overpowering bitter taste to it. Furthermore, it was way too salty for my liking and not even the rice could balance it out.

There are definitely better Korean places to try in the CBD, so I would give this one a miss. With the abundance of Korean fried chicken in Melbourne now, you're bound to find somewhere more satisfying.
